Planning enforcement is a discretionary, not a mandatory, function of Local Planning Authorities. It is, however, recognised that the integrity of the Development Management process depends on the Council’s commitment to take effective action against unauthorised development.
The Planning Enforcement Policy sets out Ipswich Borough Council’s approach to planning compliance and the delivery of planning enforcement functions. It identifies local priorities to assist with case management. The Policy sets out the approach to planning enforcement and provides greater clarity for all parties engaged in the development process.
