The Borough currently has a Local List (Building of Townscape Interest) SPD, last revised in 2021, which identifies undesignated heritage assets that contribute to the character and appearance of the borough but are not statutorily protected.
It is proposed to undertake a review in 2024/25 of the current Local List SPD, involving consultation with the public on new nominations which can be added to the list and published as an updated and adopted revision, replacing the current SPD.
The invitation for nominations will be conducted through a formal Call for Ideas consultation. Buildings submitted for inclusion will be assessed initially by the Councils conservation officers and prepared for review by an Assessment Panel to produce a shortlist of nominations for inclusion in the draft Local List.
A formal public consultation will take place on the draft Local List which will include both existing entries and the entries proposed for inclusion.
Following the consultation and incorporating amendments as appropriate, the draft Local List will be referred to Full Council for adoption.
