As part of the planning for the annual Remembrance Event an inspection of the cenotaph is undertaken by the IBC Stonemason and any minor repairs undertaken.
This year the inspection raised several significant repairs that could not be carried out by existing resources.
Due to the need for the works to be undertaken as a priority before the programmed Remembrance Events in November Capital Stone Renovation Ltd undertook a full inspection of the cenotaph.
To enable the works to be undertaken before the scheduled events, a detailed quotation was sought from Capital Stone Renovation Ltd to undertake all repairs and a deep clean for the sum of £16,916.
A decision has been made to waive contract standing orders under paragraph 3.10.2 of Contract Standing Orders to allow a direct award to Capital Stone Renovation Ltd, due to the urgency and the specialist repairs required.
If the exemption from Contract standing orders had not been made, the works would not be undertaken, preventing parts of the cenotaph being accessed during the Remembrance services.
