Portfolio Holder – Councillor Carole Jones

Executive is asked to consider the revised cost estimate for the gallery fit-out and interpretation works for the Museum Redevelopment and consider if officers are to be authorised to award a contract within the revised cost estimate, or if Executive wishes to reserve the contract award to itself.

94.1.     Councillor Jones introduced the report, noting that Executive had previously authorised Officers to award a contract for gallery fit-out and interpretation works. The latest designs for the gallery now suggested that the costs would be higher than the maximum previously approved by Executive, partly because the digital elements of the project were now to be included in this contract. The revised contract amount would however remain within the overall budget allocated to the project.

It was RESOLVED:

that Executive authorises the Director - Operations & Place, in consultation with the Assistant Director - Finance, Head of Legal Services, Head of Procurement, Portfolio Holder for Resources and Portfolio Holder for Planning and Museums, to enter into a contract with a Gallery Fit-Out and Interpretation contractor, provided this can be achieved within the cost estimate provided in exempt Appendix 1 of the report.

Reason: To enable the contract to be executed and the works to proceed.
