On 8 February 2022, Executive authorised funding for a new five year £3.5m investment programme in play areas (including additional funding from Section 106 planning agreements).
On 8 March 2022, Executive adopted the Play Area Strategy 2022 - 2027 and Play Area Action (Investment) Plan 2022 - 2027 and that the Parks and Cemeteries Operations Manager be authorised to take all necessary steps to deliver the improvement works necessary and replace the play areas identified.
Chantry Park Play Area is identified as a site to be replaced in 2025 – 2026.
As Chantry Park is designated a destination park there is a requirement to include a swing that enables a wheelchair user to have the opportunity to have the opportunity to experience the movement of swinging
whilst remaining in their wheelchair.
A procurement exercise has been undertaken by officers from the Council’s Procurement team, using the Suffolk Sourcing Portal to identify a preferred supplier for the supply and delivery of an ability swing, with a flat seated swing attached to enable side by side play.
To award a contract to GL Jones for the supply only of an ability swing, with fencing and a seated swing for the new play area within Chantry Park.
Reason:
The bid submitted of £12,725.00 by G L Jones was found to demonstrate value for money and met the required quality standards.
This sum is within the budget available for the project. The groundworks and installation of swing and associated fencing will be carried out by the Council’s Landscape Team.
