The Council owns and operates several public car parks in Ipswich, including the St. Peter’s Dock Car Park located on Bridge Street, Ipswich IP1 1XH.
The Police (Norfolk & Suffolk) requires half of the car park to run a day of action targeting offences around the one-way system in Ipswich, a decision has been made to temporarily close the car park on Thursday-21st July 2022 from 08:00-14:30.
Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the temporary closure both when it is closed and in advance of the closure and alternative public parking is available nearby. This will help to minimise any lost income to the Council and inconvenience to the public.
The main alternative would be to not close the car park for this operation, but this police operation will help to reduce the illegal and reckless use of the highways by motorists in Ipswich.
To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2020 to close St. Peter’s Dock Car Park for a temporary period (expected to be on Thursday-21st July 2022).
Reason:
To allow for a day of police operation in dealing with offences around one-way system in Ipswich.
