Decision details

On the 3^rd February 2022 the Government announced a Council Tax energy rebate of £150 for properties in bands A – D. They also announced that they will provide billing authorities with funding to operate a discretionary fund for households in need who would not otherwise be eligible.

On 8 March 2022, Executive is requested to grant authority to the Deputy Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader and Portfolio Holder of Communities and Sport, to design and implement a discretionary fund, in accordance with the relevant Government guidance.

This is the decision to design and implement the Discretionary Fund, provided that Executive approves this course of action.

To implement the Energy Rebate Discretionary Policy as set out in Appendix 1.

Reason: To provide support to vulnerable people and individuals on low incomes that do not pay Council Tax or that pay Council Tax for properties in bands E-H.
