Ipswich Borough Council is currently preparing for tender, the delivery of the Phase 2B infrastructure works for Eastern Gateway, which includes the construction of a new roads and the installation of utilities.

As part of the delivery of utilities, a detailed quotation for power was sought from UKPN for the supply, installation new street lighting connections.

The quote received is £13,563.32 excluding VAT

A decision to waive contract standing orders for direct award to UKPN has been made. For proprietary and operational reasons UKPN are the only supplier who can complete all works necessary.

If the exemption from Contract standing orders had not been made, the works would not be undertaken, preventing the lighting from being connected (as there is no reasonable satisfactory alternative).

To waive contract standing orders as there is only one potential provider and place the order for the new electricity supply for the lighting columns.

Reason: To enable delivery of future development of Eastern Gateway
