The Council needs to undertake an independent ‘witnessed fire alarm test’ and compartmentation survey at a number of sites as soon as possible to provide assurance that these measures are effective at each site.

This is a specialist area of compliance and a local supplier, Protect and Detect has submitted a quote for £16,500 to undertake the surveys and tests and to report on the findings.

In light of the Council’s desire for the surveys to be completed and reported as soon as possible, the order has been exempted from the Contract Standing Orders requirement for three quotes.

To exempt from Contract Standing Orders and appoint Protect and Detect.

Reason:

To enable the witnessed fire alarm tests to be completed and reported as soon as possible.
