Ipswich Borough Council is currently tendering the delivery of the Phase 2B infrastructure works for Eastern Gateway, which includes the construction of a new roads and the installation of utilities.
As part of the delivery of utilities, a detailed quotation for power was sought from UKPN for the supply, installation new street lighting connections, along the Section 3 road.
The quote received is £6,544.06 which will be funded from existing budgets.
A decision to waive contract standing orders for direct award to UKPN has been made. For proprietary and operational reasons UKPN are the only supplier who can complete all works necessary.
If the exemption from Contract standing orders had not been made, the works would not be undertaken, preventing the lighting from being connected (as there is no reasonable satisfactory alternative).
To waive contract standing and award the contract to UKPN.
