Decision details

OD/21/126 Water Disinfection Unit at East Villa

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

East Villa is a residential support unit for homeless families. The site is operational on a 24/7 basis.

Whilst not classed as healthcare premises, the residents (of variable ages and gender) are particularly vulnerable with high potential for underlying health conditions making them more susceptible to legionella infection. A legionella management programme is in place which complies with ACOP L8 and HSG 274.

The Council has a requirement to install a new chemical dosing system to remove risk and reduce levels of biofilm.

Following an open tender procurement process through the Suffolk e-sourcing system, three companies were approached with performance specifications and invited to tender, two bids were received.

The most economically advantageous tender was received from Veolia for the value of £13,018.00 (excl. VAT), which is considered good value for money and will be funded from existing budgets.

Decision:

To award the contract to Veolia UK.

Reason:

To enable the works to be completed.
