IBC Community Support have been awarded grant funding from the Home Office Neighbourhood Crime Unit under the Safer Streets 2 and 3 schemes. Applications and action plans were developed in collaboration with the Police & Crime Commissioner Office and Suffolk Police when applying for the funds.
1. To award a contract to promote independent crime reporting methods to Crimestoppers Campaigns. The value of the contract is £33,500. It was decided to exempt the decision from the market testing requirement of Contract Standing Orders, on the basis that the service required could only be supplied by a single supplier.
2. To award a contract for the replacement of the wall around the Westgate Ward Social Club with fencing to Jackson’ Fencing. The contract value is £67,000. It was decided to exempt the decision from the market testing requirement of Contract Standing Orders on the basis that Jackson’s Fencing is the only contractor that can provide Secured by Design Certification fencing, as required to meet the Police Standards of Suffolk Police and to accord with of the planning advice.
3. To appoint, R G Carter Construction to fit target hardening devices to residents of Ipswich’s homes. The value of the contract is £20,000. This has been exempted from the market testing requirement of Contract Standing Orders because the Home Office funding for this work is only available until 31st March when all works must be completed and so requires a known local company with the ability to mobilise quickly.
Reason:
To use grant funding from the Home Office Neighbourhood Crime Unit Safer Streets schemes to invest in preventative measures to combat neighbourhood crime.
