The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including the Upper Orwell Street South Car Park located on Upper Barclay Street.
The Council has received a request from Mark Maskell from New Oaks Fitness (Ipswich) Ltd, the organiser of the Ipswich Strongman Competition, to hire this car park on Saturday 28 August 2021, between 08.00hrs and 17.00hrs.
The car park is located adjacent to several other public car parks which, at the current time, have sufficient unused capacity to enable Upper Orwell Street South Car Park to be hired without this preventing those members of the public who are parking on the car park at the moment from being able to continue to park in the same area during the period in question.
As such, a decision has been made to utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2020 to close Upper Orwell Street South Car Park to the general public for the period in question and hire it to Mark Maskell (New Oaks Fitness (Ipswich) Ltd) for their exclusive use at a chargeable rate.
