The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including the Portman Road B Car Park located on Portman Road.

The Council has received a request from, the organiser of the Cycle Swarm cycling sportive event, to hire this car park on Sunday 8 August 2021. The event was previously scheduled for Sunday 25 July 2021 but postponed due to the poor weather forecast.

The car park is located adjacent to several other public car parks which, at the current time, have sufficient unused capacity to enable the Portman Road B Car Park to be hired without this preventing those members of the public who are parking on the car park at the moment from being able to continue to park in the same area during the period in question.

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2020 to close Portman Road B Car Park to the general public for the period in question and hire it to Cycle Swarm) for their exclusive use at a chargeable rate.
