Cumberland Towers is a 12 storey Sheltered Scheme and is served by 2 passenger lifts that are estimated to be 45 years old and require replacement as their life cycle has expired.
It has been agreed to undertake a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stage 2 concept design on three options; (1) replace the 2 lifts like for like (2) undertake structural alterations to enable both lifts to serve all floors and (3) construct a new lift shaft on the outside of the building.
Due to the complexity of the scheme it was decided to appoint a specialist consultant accredited to the RIBA that were approved on the NHS Framework Agreement, Construction Consultancy Services 2, reference: SBS/17/NH/PZR/9256, Lot 12.
The most economically advantageous bid submitted using a closed procurement process on the framework was £64,817.50 and was submitted by consultant Ingleton Wood. Their price includes their consultant fees and in addition consultancy fees for specialist third parties that will be required to contribute to the feasibility reports (i.e. structural engineers).
