Ipswich Borough Council has in some of its older buildings, Chubb Intruder Alarm systems, these systems were originally installed by Chubb and feature a Closed Protocol software system which can be only accessed by Chubb.
Other Intruder Alarm companies do not have permission to Chubb access codes and equipment to allow any type of service and repair works to take place on these systems, therefore only Chubb is able to undertake these works.
Following a quotation from Chubb for £22,750, an exemption to Contract Standing Orders is required to enable the contract to be placed, ensuring that the intruder alarm systems remain operational for the coming year.
The contract would be funded from existing revenue budgets.
To exempt this work from Contract Standing Orders (goods or materials from one supplier etc.).
Reason: To enable the contract with Chubb to be placed to maintain and service the Council’s closed protocol intruder alarm systems.
