Decision details

Following a procurement exercise a contract was awarded to Rundle & Co Ltd for the provision for enforcement services for Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates for Babergh, Ipswich and Mid Suffolk Councils.

The contract commenced on the 01/10/2019 expiring on the 30/09/21 with an option to extend for 1 year. The value of the contract is NIL to the Council, as the contractor only achieves commission on recovery of debt where there are fees charged to the debtor.

The decision has been taken to take up the option of the 1-year extension with Rundle & Co.

Reason:

• The contract is a nil-commission contract, SRP is satisfied with the quality of service being provided by Rundles

• The Government has delayed publishing the outcome of its review of the recovery of Council Tax. Extending the contract for another year provides time for this to be published and any new contract set-up in line with any new requirements.

• The Team is still responding to the covid pandemic, it would not be practical to undertake another procurement exercise at this time
