Ipswich Borough Council is currently undertaking the installation of 8 Homeless Pods at Whitton Church Lane.

Additional abnormal and supplementary works (including provisional sums for CCTV and ground contamination) are required, which did not form part of the original contract for the pod installation. To enable these works to be completed within the time frame required by the Homes England Grant and the incumbent contractor being on site and being able to fulfil these extra works a quote has been received from Hill Residential to conduct this work for the sum of £93,333.77.

It is proposed to exempt this award from Contract Standing Orders and award the works to Hill Residential on the grounds that the work urgently needs to be conducted and any delay could have a financial impact on the Council and is economically in the best interests of the Council.

The contract will be placed on normal IBC Terms and Conditions and funded from existing budgetary provision.

Reason: To complete essential works not included in the original scope but required to fulfil IBC time sensitive requirements for the Homes England Grant.
