As part of a county wide scheme, £100,000 has been allocated to Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) by Suffolk County Council (SCC) for the IBC to use to commission fund innovative projects to tackle youth unemployment. This is the second year - i.e. the second £100,000 - of this project. £18,550 remains from the original £100,000 so there is now £118,550 available to allocate.
The Borough Council has run a procurement exercise seeking to procure work in 4 different areas:
• LOT 1: Introduction to Technology
• LOT 2: Mentoring
• LOT 3: Work readiness programme
• LOT 4: Young Entrepreneur
Bids have been assessed against the published criteria and it is
intended to contract with 5 organisations.
This is to award £23,500.00 to West Suffolk College to provide recruitment and training for 63 young people 16 to 24 year olds that are not in employment, education and training.
