The Council owns and operates an off-street public car park known as ‘Regent Theatre Car Park’ situated on land accessed off Coben Place in Ipswich.

As part of the project involving the installation of a Variable Messaging System (VMS) to display car park availability across Ipswich, resurfacing works are required to a small section at the entrance of Regent Theatre Car Park.

To close Regent Theatre Car Park for 2 days on Wednesday March 24th and Thursday March 25th to allow the resurfacing works to take place and enable the car park to be connected to the VMS system at a later date.

Reason:

Due to the narrow access to the car park, it is not possible for the contractor to undertake the work safely and retain access to the car park for customers. Therefore, the car park would need to close for 2 days on Wednesday March 24th and Thursday March 25th.

The works have been planned to be undertaken while COVID restrictions are in place to limit the inconvenience to car park users and the loss of income to Ipswich Parking Services.

The alternative would be to not undertake the work, which would mean Regent Theatre Car Park would not be connected to the VMS system.
