Most street lights in Ipswich are owned by Suffolk County Council (SCC) but Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) owns a small quantity. These are managed by SCC on IBC’s behalf.
In common with SCC’s own practice, some of IBC’s street lights are currently operated on a part-night lighting basis, where they are switched off during the middle of the night.
The Council has decided that, with immediate effect and until further notice, that all of the Council’s street lights will operate on an all night lighting basis, so they will not be switched off during the middle of the night.
