On 3rd November 2020, Executive considered a revised Medium Term Financial Plan (E/20/22) which included a number of savings proposals. These included a proposal to close the Regent Theatre box office, meaning that tickets can only be bought online and over the phone.
Executive resolved to delegate the final decision on this matter to the Chief Operating Officer (or Head of Governance if the Chief Operating Officer is conflicted) so that relevant consultations can be taken into consideration.
To close the dedicated box office at the Regent Theatre from 30 April 2021 making an annual net saving of £97,890.
Reasons:
Channel shift and technology advancements mean that fewer in person purchases of theatre tickets are made and as a result the physical Box Office Operation is costly.
The functions of the Box Office can be provided elsewhere in the Council.
There is a need to make savings to deliver the November 2020 Medium Term Financial Plan.
