OD/20/25 Changes to Operation of Parks Receptions

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

At its meeting on 14th July Executive considered a revised Medium-Term Financial Plan to address a projected £10m budget shortfall as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic. This Plan included a proposal to save £25,000 through changing the operation and staffing arrangements of Parks Receptions. The final decision regarding this was delegated to the Chief Operating Officer so that consultation results (including from affected employees) could be considered in the decision making.

The Chief Operating Officer has considered the consultation responses, Equality Impact Assessments and financial information and reached the decision that the proposal should be implemented. This means that:

·         Holywells Park reception will open 7 days a week during school holidays between noon and 4pm; with tasks that had been carried out by receptionists being reallocated within the Parks Service or wider Council

·         Christchurch Park reception will be monitored by Parks Staff with a dedicated receptionist at weekends reducing the number of receptionist hours required

·         A full year saving of £25,000 can be made
