This decision recommends the approval to acquire a residential property under the Council’s acquisition policy, as set out in the Executive report published for 24 March 2020, reference E/19/67.


i) That the purchase of the property for £230,000 (plus £9,000 stamp duty), as detailed in report E/19/67, be approved;

ii) That the Property Services Operations Manager, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Property Services, Operations Manager for Legal Services and the Section 151 Officer, be authorised to progress and conclude the purchase of the property for £230,000 (plus £9,000 Stamp Duty).

Reason for decision:

The Chief Executive has exercised the delegated authority granted to him by the Leader on 24th March to take decisions on any and all Executive functions in consultation with the Leader (or in his absence or unavailability, with the Deputy Leader) to ensure that the Council does not lose or delay the purchase of the property because this type of property is urgently required and in short supply in the Borough and will:

i)  enable the Council to convert the property as an accessible bungalow and become part of the Housing stock and

ii)  enable the necessary due diligence to be conducted and the purchase to proceed
