OD/19/61 Access Control Proximity Readers

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The current swipe access control system has been in operation for 13 years at Grafton House. The system also extends to Gipping House and the Town Hall complex. The system is now incompatible with the DDA Regulations. Additionally, repair costs for the existing system are increasing across the sites and the card readers are generally becoming worn and ineffective.

The Facilities Team, in partnership with IBC Procurement, received 3 quotations for this system upgrade and a successful contractor was found to demonstrate best value, at a total cost of £13,200, from the existing allocated budget.

Decision:

To appoint INIGA Life Safety Systems Ltd to install an upgrade to the existing access control system within Grafton House, Gipping House and the Town Hall complex.

Reason: To provide a DDA compliant and more effective access control system.
