Aecom have been awarded the contract to review and update the Ipswich Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) originally published in 2011. The contract award (OD/19/22) was undertaken in accordance with CSOs through an open tender.
The SFRA is needed to inform the sequential approach to choosing sites to allocate for development through the Ipswich Local Plan. As part of the original contract Aecom have included 20 detailed site assessments to identify specific mitigation measures that would be needed to support site delivery, for example minimum floor levels.
As Ipswich has many potential development sites within flood risk zones, a further six sites have been identified by officers as benefitting from a more detailed approach which sits outside of the terms of the original contact award. The additional cost for assessing the 6 new sites is £1,200 (+VAT).
Extending the contract to include the additional six sites will provide a more detailed assessment of development sites and will assist the Council in assessing whether development would be safe in flood risk terms.
Decision: To grant the contract extension for the Ipswich Strategic Flood Risk Assessment to Aecom
Reason: In order that the additional sites identified have been assessed in the right manner for the purposes of allocating land for the Ipswich Local Plan.
