As part of a county wide scheme, £100,000 has been allocated to Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) by Suffolk County Council (SCC) for the IBC to use to commission fund innovative projects to tackle youth unemployment.
The Borough Council has run a procurement exercise seeking to procure work in 4 different areas:
• LOT 1: Mentoring
• LOT 2: Work experience
• LOT 3: Pre-employment training
• LOT 4: “Drop in” and counselling
Bids have been assessed against the published criteria and it is intended to contract with 4 organisations.
This form documents the first of four separate decisions.
This is to award £24,550.00 to Inspire Suffolk to provide Pre- employment training for 40 young people 16 to 24 year olds that are not in employment, education and training.
The portfolio holder for economic development has been consulted and is supportive of the process / project.
To contract with Inspire Suffolk for £24,550.00 to provide Pre- employment training for 40 young people 16 to 24 year olds that are not in employment, education and training.
Reason: To ensure that the Council appropriately spends the funding it has received for this purpose.
