Purpose:

On occasions, there is a need to remove asbestos from the Council’s housing stock. This may be during repair or refurbishment works or when maintained/controlled asbestos within properties is in need of removal.

 

The Council has decided to enter into a new contract for asbestos removal utilising an established and compliant framework agreement with South Eastern Consortium. The intended new contract will commence in June 2019

Decision:

To enter into a framework contract for up to 8 months commencing June 2019 through this framework consortium with Cablesheer Ltd up to £70,000.

 

Reason: The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR) imposes a statutory obligation requiring the Council to dispose of Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) within its housing stock in the correct manner and this is achieved using a specialist licenced contractor.
