Ipswich Borough Council are progressing works for the redevelopment of the 3 derelict buildings on the waterfront at St Peters Dock. As no existing power is available on the site, a new 800 kva sub-station is required to provide power to the R&W Paul Silo, Burtons Building and the adjacent Warehouse.
A quote has been received from UK Power Networks is £116,047.12 excluding VAT. A decision to waive contract standing orders for direct award to UKPN has been made. For proprietary and operational reasons UKPN are the only supplier who can complete all works necessary. If the exemption from Contract standing orders had not been made, the works would not be undertaken, preventing power from being available to the 3 buildings and also preventing the future redevelopment of this key area of the waterfront.
To waive contract standing orders as there is only one potential provider and place the order for the new sub-station with UKPN. Reason: To enable delivery and future development of the buildings at St Peters Dock.
