Purpose:

The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including Smart Street Car Park, Ipswich, IP4 1BP.

 

Major Capital Schemes requested for 3 parking spaces to be suspended from Wednesday 22nd February to Tuesday 28th Feb 2023 for cement pads to be placed to facilitate the installation of the cycle shelter in the car park.

 

Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the suspension of 3 parking spaces in advance. This will help to minimise any inconvenience to the public.

 

The main alternative would be to not to suspend the 3 parking spaces, but the installation of the cycle shelter is required to introduce other facilities in the car park that will be beneficial to the users of the car park and the residents of the local area and Ipswich.

Decision:

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to suspend 3 parking spaces in the Smart Street Car Park for a temporary period (expected to be from Wednesday 22nd February to Tuesday 28th February 2023).

 

Reason:

To allow for the for the installation of the cycle shelter to be carried in the car park.
