Purpose:

One of the projects funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund is to provide an increased Police town centre presence.   The Council is proposing, in partnership with Suffolk Constabulary, to fund a significant enhancement to visible presence in the town centre during the day. The plan proposed two to three dedicated Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) for the town centre.

Decision:

That the Leader of Ipswich Borough Council authorises the Director for Housing & Finance, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Community Protection, Chief Executive, Assistant Director for Governance and the Head of Legal Services, to enter into a contractual Service Level Agreement with Suffolk Constabulary for £283,500 over two years to fund three additional PCSOs for the Town centre, utilising UKSPF funding.

 

Reason: To facilitate the continued additional Police presence to help the public feel safe in the Town centre and utilise the allocated UKSPF funding for this purpose.
