The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including Upper Orwell Street North Car Park, Upper Barclay Street, Ipswich IP4 1HU.
The council has received a request from Orbis Protect to locate a portacabin security office in the corner of the car park. A security guard will be based on site to patrol the vacant former Co-Op store at 46-48 Carr Street, Ipswich.
The office and accompanying security vehicle will occupy 3 parking bays and will be on site between Thursday 16 February 2023 and Thursday 16 March 2023. Orbis Protect will pay for the lost income of the bays and the relevant suspension fee.
The security office was in the same location for several weeks over the summer. Reports of antisocial behaviour in the car park dramatically reduced while the unit was on site which was beneficial to our customers.
To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to suspend 3 bays in in Upper Orwell Street North Car Park between Thursday 16 February 2023 and Thursday 16 March 2023.
Reason:
To accommodate a temporary security guard office.
