OD/22/139 Holywells Park Aggregate

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

On 8 February 2022, Executive authorised funding for a new five year £3.5m investment programme in play areas (including additional funding from Section 106 planning agreements).

On 8 March 2022, Executive adopted the Play Area Strategy 2022 - 2027 and Play Area Action (Investment) Plan 2022 - 2027 and that the Parks and Cemeteries Operations Manager be authorised to take all necessary steps to deliver the improvement works necessary and replace the play areas identified.

Holywells Park Play Area is identified as a site to be replaced in 2022 – 2023.

As part of the play area construction there is a need for type one aggregate to be used.

A procurement exercise has been undertaken by officers from the Parks Team using the Council’s approved aggregate supplier list to identify a preferred supplier for the supply and delivery of type one aggregate on a call off basis due to site accessibility and vehicle weight constraints.

The decision made was to award a contract to Kesgrave Aggregates for the supply only of Approx. 1,200 Tonnes of type one primary.

Two bids were received, and a validation process was carried out by officers from the Council’s Parks team. The bid submitted of £32,340.00 by Kesgrave Aggregates was found to demonstrate value for money and met the required quality standards.

This sum is within the budget available for the project. The groundworks will be carried out by the Council’s Landscape Team.

Decision:

To award a contract to Kesgrave Aggregates for the supply only of Approx. 1,200 Tonnes of type one primary.

Reason:

To enable the groundworks to be carried out.
