Ipswich Borough Council is planning to build a new multi-storey car park on the site of the New Portman Road surface car park.

The commissioning of requisite consultant services was approved in 2019, including Employers Agent/Quantity Surveying Services, Mechanical and Electrical Services, Structural Engineering Services, Clerk of Works Services.

All related services were suspended in 2020 in response to the Covid pandemic.

The project now needs to recommence, and due to time passed, a renegotiation of related services has been completed with the existing consultants, seeking to use the 12 month extension permitted within the

contract and to apply an additional optional extension as a variation to the contract to cover until the end of the expected works.

All appointments will be funded from existing capital budgets.

• Appointment is to be made to Allman Woodcock for Employers Agent/Quantity Surveying Services, to the sum of £59,730.00 (excl. VAT);

• Appointment is to be made to Sweco Ltd for Mechanical & Electrical Services, to the sum of £26,382.40 (excl. VAT);

• Appointment is to be made to J P Chick Ltd for Structural Engineering Services, to the sum of £31,500.00 (excl. VAT);

• Appointment is to be made to John Burke Associates Ltd for Clerk of Works Services, to the sum of £39,000.00 (excl. VAT).

The above values and related commissions include for some services that have already been delivered by the respective (named) consultants prior to their services being suspended in 2020.

To re-appoint and extend the appointments of Allman Woodcock Ltd, Sweco Ltd (previously trading as MLM Ltd), J P Chick Ltd and John Burke Associates Ltd.

Reason:

To allow for the requisite pre and post (main contract) design services to be progressed.
