Ipswich Borough Council are currently working on the infrastructure works as part of Phase 2B at Eastern Gateway, Sproughton Road.
The Council requires the lowering of an existing High Voltage cable at the perimeter of the site to enable a cycleway to be constructed.
The quote for lowering the HV cable from UKPN is £5,098.28.
A decision to waive contract standing orders for direct award to UKPN has been made, for proprietary and operational reasons, UKPN are the only supplier that can lower HV cable.
If the exemption from Contract standing orders had not been made, the works along the cycleway will not be able to be completed therefore, the Council would not be complying with planning permission conditions and could delay any potential future sales of plots of land on Eastern Gateway.
To waive contract standing orders and appoint UKPN to lower the HV Cable.
Reason:
UKPN are the only supplier that can lower HV cable.
To enable delivery of future development of Eastern Gateway
