The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including Crown Car Park, Ipswich, IP1 3HS.

The annual car park clean has been scheduled to take place. This means that there is a need to reduce the opening hours and closure to floors to enable for this to take place. The changes are as follows:

• Monday 30th January 2023 – Closing of Floors 5 & 6

• Tuesday 31st January 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Wednesday 1st February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Thursday 2nd February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Wednesday 8th February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Thursday 9th February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the reduced operating opening hours both when it is closed and in advance of the closure and alternative public parking is available nearby. This will help to minimise any lost income to the Council and inconvenience to the public.

The main alternative would be not to reduce the opening hours, but this would mean disruption to the cleaning operation which will then take longer to safely complete the cleaning project.

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places)Order 2022 to reduce the opening hours and closure of floors at Crown Car Park as follows:

• Monday 30th January 2023 – Closing of Floors 5 & 6

• Tuesday 31st January 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Wednesday 1st February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Thursday 2nd February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Wednesday 8th February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

• Thursday 9th February 2023 – Car park closing at 16:00 instead of 18:30

Reason:

To enable the cleaning to take place without disruption and be safely completed.
