Purpose:

The Council owns and operates several public car parks in Ipswich, including the Portman Road B Car Park located on Portman Road, Ipswich, IP1 2BP.

 

The Council has received an internal request from Olivia Grant (Project & Support Officer) to suspend 5 parking bays in the car park on the following Ipswich Town FC matchdays:

 

• Saturday 28 January 2023

• Saturday 11 February 2023

• Saturday 18 February 2023

• Saturday 4 March 2023

• Saturday 18 March 2023

 

This request has been submitted as part of the Safer Street 3 project which is aiming to reduce crime in the surrounding area. The bays will be required to locate an advertising van with a digital screen on the side to promote the project to the people attending the match. The bays will be along the edge of the car park  facing Portman Road A Car Park to maximise publicity.

 

The potential lost income for the suspension of the bays will be funded by the project so no income will be lost because of the bay suspension.

Decision:

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to suspend 5 bays on the dates listed above in Portman Road B Car Park to allow the advertising vehicle to be located and promote this worthwhile project.
