Ipswich Borough Council are proposing to carry out urgent repairs to Crown Pools roof area.
Following recent heavy rain, the roof area located above the staff offices and customer staircase have flooded internally causing Health and safety issues and damage. Following on from a preliminary inspection it was agreed that any repairs will require a scaffold to be installed for access and roof tiles to be
removed around existing Velux windows.
An urgent quote has been obtained from RG Carters Ltd. for the sum of £7,628.50 + VAT to install access scaffolding and undertake repairs to the roof and Velux windows.
An exemption from contract standing orders has therefore been made to enable the works to occur at the earliest possible time.
If the exemption from contract standing orders had not been made, then unacceptable health and safety and operational impacts on site would have occurred.
The works will be funded from existing repair budgets.
To exempt this work from Contract Standing Orders (one quote obtained) and to award the contract to RG Carter.
Reason:
To enable an order to be placed to RG Carters to prevent further flooding which is causing health
and safety issues and disruptions to our services delivery.
