OD/22/102 St Peter's Dock Car Park 14 Nov 22

Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including St Peter’s Dock Car Park, Ipswich, IP1 1XH.

The Council has received a request from Suffolk Constabulary to have the use of 10 parking bays from which to conduct a road enforcement operation on Monday 14th November 2022. The operation will take place between 07.30hrs and 14.00hrs.

The operation will target vehicles on the public highway that are identified as committing road traffic offences. The vehicles will be directed into the car park for enforcement action. The DVLA Enforcement team will also be in attendance.

The bays assigned to the Police will be at the rear of the car park to minimise disturbance to the rest of the car park and our customers. The area occupied by the Police will be coned off. There are no other known events occurring on the day of the operation so the car park will have the capacity to accommodate the request.

This is a worthwhile operation, tackling motorists committing motoring offences and is beneficial for keeping the streets of Ipswich a safer place for residents and is supported by Ipswich Borough Council.

Decision:

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places)Order 2022 to suspend 10 bays in St Peter’s Dock Car Park between the hours of 07.30-14.00 on Monday 14th November 2022.

Reason:

To allow Suffolk Constabulary to conduct a motoring offences enforcement operation.
