The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including Crown Car Park, Ipswich, IP1 3HS.

Due to the Festive Thursdays (late night shopping Thursdays) taking place on the below dates, there will be an increase in the requirement of parking facilities at this location, as a result of high activity level on these days, the opening hours of Crown Car Park will be required to be extended as follows:

• Thursday 17th November 2022 (From 08:00-18:00 to 08:00-21:30)

• Thursday 24th November 2022 (From 08:00-18:00 to 08:00-21:30)

• Thursday 1st December 2022 (From 08:00-18:00 to 08:00-21:30)

• Thursday 8th December 2022 (From 08:00-18:00 to 08:00-21:30)

• Thursday 15th December 2022 (From 08:00-18:00 to 08:00-21:30)

• Thursday 22nd December 2022 (From 08:00-18:00 to 08:00-21:30)

Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the extended operating opening hours both when it will close and in advance of the extended closing time. This will help to minimise the shortage of parking facilities for the event.

The main alternative would be not to increase the opening hours but the requirement of parking facilities for this event will increase the car park occupancy level for that period and it will not be a waste to the operating cost of the car park.

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to extend the opening hours of the Crown Car Park for a temporary period (expected to be every Thursdays between 17th November-22nd December 2022).

To allow for car park to be opened when it’s required.
