The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including Crown Car Park, Ipswich, IP1 3HS.

Due to 25th December 2022 is Christmas Day, 26th & 27th December 2022 are bank holidays, the activity level at the car park will not be high compared to normal working days, then the car park will be required to be closed and opening hours to be reduced as follows:

• 25th December 2022 -Sunday (Christmas Day) From 08:30-18:00 to Closed.

• 26th December 2022- Monday (Bank Holiday) From 08:00-18:30 to 08:30-18:00.

• 27th December 2022-Tuesday (Bank Holiday) From 08:00-18:30 to 08:30-18:00.

Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the reduced operating opening hours both when it is closed and in advance of the closure and alternative public parking is available nearby. This will help to minimise any lost income to the Council and inconvenience to the public.

The main alternative would be not to reduce the opening hours but the cost of staff covering the car while occupancy level is very low will be a waste to the operating cost of the car park.

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to close and reduce the opening hours of the Crown Car Park for a temporary period (expected to be 25th, 26th & 27th December 2022).

Reason:
To allow for car park not to be opened when it’s not required.
