The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including Portman Road B Car Park, Ipswich, IP1 2BP.

Due to Remembrance Sunday taking place on Sunday 13th November 2022, we have received internal request from Events to close Portman Road B Car Park for the Military and Band to form up and return later in the Car Park.

Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the temporary closure both when it is closed and in advance of the closure. This will help to minimise any inconvenience to the public.

The main alternative would be to not close the car park, but it will be extremely difficult for the Military and Band to carry out the activities scheduled for that day and the closure will also help smooth traffic flow in that area.

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to close the Portman Road B Car Park for a temporary period (expected to be Sunday 13th November 2022).

To allow for car park not to be opened when it’s required.
