The Council owns and operates a number of public car parks in Ipswich, including Smart Street Car Park, Ipswich, IP4 1BP.

Major Capital Schemes requested to close the Smart Street Car Park for topographic survey to install a cycle lock shelter, and a decision has been made to temporarily close the car park from Sunday 25th September 2022 at 15:00 to Monday 26th September 2022 at 08:00.

Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the temporary closure both when it is closed and in advance of the closure. This will help to minimise any inconvenience to the public.

The main alternative would be to not to close the car park, but the survey is required to introduce other facilities in the car park that will be beneficial to the users of the car park and the residents of the local area and Ipswich.

To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to close the Smart Street Car Park for a temporary period (expected to be from Sunday 25th September 2022 at 15:00 to Monday 26th September 2022 at 08:00) to allow for the for topographic survey to be carried in the car park.
