The Council is responsible for the management of on-street paid for parking places in Ipswich on behalf of Suffolk County Council who are the Traffic Authority. This includes the parking place (‘car park’) at Crown Car Park, Ipswich, IP1 3HS.
As Monday 19th September 2022 is declared as bank holiday due to Queen Elizabeth II funeral taking place, the activity level at the car park will not be high compared to normal working days, then the opening hours will be required to be reduced as follow:
19th September 2022 (Bank Holiday Monday) From 08:00-18:30 to 08:30-18:00.
Signage will be placed to inform users of the car park of the reduced operating opening hours both when it is closed and in advance of the closure and alternative public parking is available nearby. This will help to minimise any lost income to the Council and inconvenience to the public.
The main alternative would be not to reduce the opening hours but the cost of staff covering the car while occupancy level is very low will be a waste to the operating cost of the car park.
To utilise the powers within the Ipswich Borough Council (Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2022 to close the Crown Car Park for a temporary period (expected to be Monday 19th September 2022) to allow for car park not to be opened when it’s not required.
