Decision Maker: Officer Decision

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

On 8 February 2022, Executive authorised funding for a new five year £3.5m investment programme in play areas (including additional funding from Section 106 planning agreements)

On 8 March 2022, Executive adopted the Play Area Strategy 2022 - 2027 and Play Area Action (Investment) Plan 2022 - 2027 and that the Parks and Cemeteries Operations Manager be authorised to take all necessary steps to deliver the improvement works necessary and replace the play areas identified.

Castle Hill Recreation Ground Play Area is identified as a site to be replaced in 2022 – 2023.

Decision:

The decision made was to award a contract to IEA Fencing for the supply only of play area bow top safety fencing and gates for the new play area.

A procurement exercise has been undertaken by officers from the Council’s Procurement team, using the Suffolk Sourcing Portal to identify a preferred supplier for play area safety fencing and associated gates.

One bid was received, and a validation process was carried out by officers from the Council’s Parks team. The bid submitted by IEA was found to demonstrate value for money and met the required quality standards.

The value of this contract is approximately £14,075.00, for the purchase and supply of fencing and gates. This sum is within the budget available for the project. The groundworks and installation of the fencing will be carried out by the Council’s Landscape Team.
