Purpose:

As part of the delivery of utilities for the Phase 2B (Plot 10) infrastructure works for Eastern Gateway, which includes the construction of a new road and the installation of utilities, a detailed quotation for power was sought from UKPN, for the connection of a new commercial underground service of the passing low voltage main for the new incoming occupiers of plot 10, which will be funded from the existing capital budget.

 

The quote received is £21,983.77

 

A decision to waive contract standing orders for direct award to UKPN has been made, for proprietary and operational reasons, UKPN are the only supplier that can provide the associated reservation of power.

 

If the exemption from Contract standing orders had not been made, the works would not be undertaken, preventing the site from being connected (as there is no reasonable satisfactory alternative).

Decision:

To waive contract standing orders as there is only one potential provider and place the order for the new electricity supply.

 

Reason: To enable delivery of future development of Eastern Gateway
