OD/14/23 Fit out of Athena Hall Gym - Contract Award

Following Decision OD/14/23 to provide a Profiles Gym Facility at Athena Hall Ipswich under contract with University Campus Suffolk (UCS) there is a need to complete the fit out of the gym in a timely and cost effective manner. The business case for the gym relies on opening in early November with some aspects being the responsibility of UCS and some the responsibility of IBC.

Appointing a contractor to carry out the IBC works after the UCS works would have delayed the opening of the gym. Accordingly, in order to achieve the planned opening date, the decision has been taken to use UCS’s appointed contractor to carry out and complete the IBC works concurrently with the UCS works at a cost of £45,191.22. An appropriate legal agreement with UCS has completed to implement the decision and an order placed for the works.

The works include:

·         Internal & External signage incl. corporate/branded further manifestation to glazing

·         Reception counter/table

·         Intruder  alarm/CCTV

·         HEARS system

·         Access Control System (incl. assoc. IT) – (liaison/co-ordination with IBC IT dept)

·         Lockers (24Nr.)

·         Toilet accessories

·         Graphics/artwork

·         Incoming data/phone line (incl. wiring for tills and broadband connection)

·         Seating

·         Full height mirrors (2m high)

·         Water fountain (inc. assoc. extension to plumbing)

·         Arial installation works

·         Sound installation works

The decision has been reached in consultation with Building and Design Services, Sport and Leisure, Finance and Procurement and Legal Services within the Council and in consultation with University Campus Suffolk. An appropriate legal agreement has been completed to implement the decision with UCS and an order placed for the works.
