The Council has powers under the Ipswich Market Act 2004 to make a legal Order to regulate traffic on those highways that are ‘market highways’ within the meaning of the Act when the market is taking place on them and where, in the opinion of the Council, this is considered necessary or expedient.
With the imminent completion of the renovation of the Cornhill area, and with the location of market stalls on the section of Princes Street between the junction with Cornhill and the junction with King Street, it is considered necessary and expedient in the interests of road safety to make an Order to prevent motor vehicles from using this section of highway when the market is taking place.
