Adoption of the Development & Archaeology Supplementary Planning Document

A Development and Archaeology Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) has been prepared to support the implementation of the Ipswich Local Plan.  The Development and Archaeology SPD will provide guidance for developments on sites with archaeological potential, and highlight the existence of the Ipswich Urban Archaeological Database.  The SPD was subject to public consultation between 25th May and 9th July 2018.  The responses received are being considered and revisions will be made to the SPD where appropriate. The report will seek the formal adoption of the finalised SPD.

Consultation process

The Development and Archaeology SPD has been prepared by the County Archaeology Service and Ipswich Borough Council in consultation with Historic England.  It has been subject to public consultation, including a workshop for developers.
