Why it is being made listing reasons for the decision
An open procurement process using Suffolk e-sourcing was undertaken seeking a contractor for the adaptation and extension of a property at Kittiwake Close. The contract was let and works are currently progressing on site. The original scope of works excluded elements of the fitting out of the property.
The additional works are valued at £6,917:03 for the specialist kitchen fitting and £5,631:29 for the installation of a wet room adapted to meet the individual’s needs.
Alternative options considered and why rejected
The option to separately tender the works was considered, however given the needs of the tenant the delay to completion this would incur was not felt to be proportionate.
Another consideration was to deploy internal resources to complete the works. Currently the demand for adaption services is exceeding operational capacity. The use of internal resource to complete these works would be at the expense of other tenants waiting for adaptations to commence.
The contractor has provided a detailed cost build up for the works.
